My Wife Evelyn

Born in Berlin, Germany. After immigrating to the US at the age of three, Evelyn grew-up in the Cleveland, OH area.  She holds a Commercial Pilot Certificate, Flight Instructor Certificate with Instrument and Multi-Engine Ratings. She's been an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner and owned her own flight school for many years. I met her while working on my Instrument Rating ... she was my instructor.  And, she probably still flies better instruments than I do.

After years of flight instructing Ev claimed that life in general aviation was like being a dinosaur watching the meteor come at you.  So, back to school she went and emerged with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida.  She did it while running her flight school and raising the kids, yet still managed to earn a 3.5 grade average.  I've never had a 3.5 in my life!

The same year she graduated from U of Fla, the airline I was flying for went out of business, so we decided to relocate from Florida to Arizona.  In AZ she put her education to work in the computer industry. Unfortunately, a few years later I went to work for an airline that made it necessary for us to move to Chicago.  We were both broken hearted because we truly loved Arizona.  From the minute we left AZ we were plotting our return.

While in Chicago the engineering jobs were far and few between so Evelyn decided to make a living with her computer.  She bought some books and investigated some web sites and began day trading stocks.  It worked out great because we could spend my days off together while giving her a chance to do what she likes best ... learn something new.  She had great fun with it and made money too.

When we moved  back to Arizona in 2002, she completed a Masters Degree in Secondary Education.  She did it with a 4.0 grade average too.  Unbelievable!  This spring (May 2011) Evelyn is retiring from her position as a Physics and/Science teacher. We are looking forward to using my airline travel benefits even more. However, she is toying with the idea of a PhD. in Astrophysics or (space) Exploration Systems Design.

Well, if you don't see the attraction here, I don't know what to tell you.  I'm one of the luckiest guys around.
